They call it good poker...
More than $8,600 in prize money will be awarded at the Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament hosted by The Homemakers' Auxiliary and the Rochester American Legion on Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Rochester Legion, 94 Eastern Ave., Rochester.
The tournament entrance fee is $100 in advance, and $125 at the door. Registration begins at 11 a.m.; play begins at noon, and open poker will be held from 1 to 5 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded as follows: first place, $2,500; second place, $1,500; third place, $1,000, fourth place, $800, fifth place, $600 and sixth through 14th places, $250.

Formed in 1991, the purpose of The Homemakers Auxiliary is to promote community understanding of the services and programs of The Homemakers of Strafford County, to supplement fund-raising efforts and to offer volunteer services to the agency. Since its inception, the auxiliary has raised more than $30,000 for The Homemakers' programs, and donated hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours to the agency.
The auxiliary meets the second Thursday of every month at 4:30 p.m. at The Homemakers facility, located at 215 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester. New members are welcome. Persons interested in joining the Auxiliary may contact Charlene Paris or Lucia DeDe at 335-1770.
